Collection: PAINTINGS: PERSPECTIVES COLLIDE January 2019
Perspectives Collide: A collection of original paintings on board and paper. While I created these works I was exploring the concept of abstract art as a form of social and personal self-portrait. The layers of colour and the interaction of shapes are like an individuals thoughts or various perspectives and the way in which they co-exist to form an ideology. Many of the works on paper were created as larger pieces and then small portions were selected and framed with matte board. I imagine this like listening to one point of view, by doing so you only get part of the story, but there's beauty in the insinuation of a larger picture, it implies there is more beyond the confines of the matte which frames it, in the same way as there is more beyond the limits of our individual perspectives.
